📢 Diboll ISD Family Announcement:  New Texas Law Will Limit Student Cell Phone Use in 2025–2026

Dear DISD Families,

We would like to inform you about a new state law that will bring significant changes to the use of cell phones by students during the school day.

📝 About the Law
House Bill 1481 (HB 1481), passed by the Texas Legislature, will go into effect beginning with the 2025–2026 school year. Here’s what it means:

  1. Students are not permitted to use cell phones during the instructional day.

  2. All schools must adopt and enforce policies that limit or eliminate device use during learning time.

📚 Why This Matters
This law was passed to support student success by reducing distractions, improving classroom focus, and promoting better academic outcomes. Research shows that limiting phone use during the school day helps students stay on task, engage in deeper learning, and build stronger social connections.

🏫 What to Expect at DISD
At Diboll ISD, we are actively reviewing and updating our campus policies to comply with HB 1481. While full details will be shared closer to the start of school, we wanted to give families early notice to help everyone prepare for this shift.

We are committed to creating a safe, focused, and respectful learning environment, and we appreciate your partnership as we move forward with these changes.

Let’s work together to help our students thrive—one focused day at a time!
